CONCERT REGISTRATION (AUDIENCE)
As part of our ESS Online Season 2023-24 we are staging the ESS Members New Year Concert. The Concert is free to attend (ESS members and non-ESS members) but Zoom space is limited to 100 seats.
ESS Members New Year Concert 2024
Date: 21 January 2024
Time: 14h00 until ca.16h00 CET. (There will also be an interval to socialise).
The “Call for Contribution” to the concert programme is now closed.
Will there be a theme this year?
Yes, this time there is a loose theme exploring the way the shakuhachi is used to imitate, represent or evoke animals and their routines and characters. For that we imagine a day where animal themed shakuhachi pieces guide us from morning to night fall. The individual pieces will be interspersed with shakuhachi improvisations/ambient pieces to extend the idea of the habitat and environmen
There will be a mixture of invited performers and ESS members contributions to make up the concert programme.
Given the theme we are in particular looking for performances of ambient/improvisational pieces from our members, but of course we are open to any suggestions within the framework of the theme.
How will I be able to take part in the Online Concert?
There are two-steps to take part:
1. Send us an initial email as soon as possible and at the latest by 8. December to let us know that you would like to participate and what contribution you are suggesting (improv/ambient or piece) to online-events@shakuhachisociety.eu.
Given the thematic framework we may have to juggle several contributions of the same pieces, hence we will send a confirmation to you at the latest by the 10. December.
As a guide your contribution should not be longer than six minutes.
Please use “ESS New Year Concert – members contribution” as the subject of your email.
2. After our confirmation email you have the choice either to play ‘live’ or to send us a video recording of your contribution. The exact video specification we will send with the confirmation email.
The final deadline for receiving video contributions is the 10 January 2024.
